Graduation

All of our students from last year came back in town for their graduation. Things are done a little differently here. They technically finish up in December at the end of the school year, but their graduation isn’t until April the following year. It honestly makes no sense to me, but what the hey, most things in this country don’t make sense to me.

It was a hectic but really special time with our students. The day of graduation we woke up extra early in order to take students and their families to graduation, then rushed back to get ready ourselves before heading out. The weather here in George is starting to drive me crazy. It’s absolutely unpredictable. When we woke up the weather was ugly, foggy and cold so I dressed in a nice Fall outfit, which you will not see in the picture because I had to strip off my cute jacket. Literally, right before we had to head out the door the weather changed quick-quick and it turned really hot.

Graduation was short and sweet as usual and our crew was so happy to be done. Here are some of the cute pictures from the day.

Rodney and Henry. Henry, along with Pinky, is on the student council this year. Please pray for their walk with the Lord and that they will be a witness to those they are constantly rubbing shoulders with.

After graduation we went to eat with Mpumi and Nkosi and their families. Followed by some more running around for them. By the end of it all, graduation was a 7 hour ordeal for us. It didn’t end there though. We rushed home to clean up our house, then rushed to school for our committee meeting, then to rush home to greet all the graduates that were showing up to hang out for the evening. Whew, the life of serving and loving on students! As hectic as it was I was so thankful to see and catch up with my girls. We’ve committed to writing each other via snail mail, which I’m thrilled about. I absolutely love getting mail! I actually got my first letter from Nkhosi the day she showed up for graduation. haha
