Easter Gathering

The Monday before Easter we got together in place of our regular Bible study to have a little fun, fellowship, and a short Bible study in preparation for Easter.

We started the night off with an Easter egg hunt. We had bought these little Easter chocolates and hid them all over this room as well as outside in the bushes. The students went crazy looking for them even once it got dark. They just whipped out their cell phones to use them as torches “or flashlights” to search through all the plants. It was a crack up.

This was followed by Cedric’s message of the 7 last phrases of Christ as he hung on the cross and how we are to mimic his last instructions in our life.

Below are pictures of our time of fellowship afterward.

Natasha came to join in fellowship for the evening. This one is so involved in her local church she has a hard time making it out but we are so encouraged by her because we LOVE to see students plugged in and passionate about their local church!

NaNa wrote a poem along the lines of the Easter message. She had told me she wanted to share it with our Bible study, but since we met as a group I asked if she would be willing to share it with everyone. Below is her poem and it very much reflects what we’ve been learning in small group Bible studies.

In touch

I’m in touch with my heart for I am a woman. I am a creation of God extracted from the rib of a man not to be superior or inferior but to be close to his heart, protected and loved. I was born in the mind of Christ. God’s breath that kissed Adams lips is the breath that runs threw me, can’t you see that I’m a child of the Almighty breathed upon cleansed to the soul with the blood that dripped for you and me……

Drip…drip…drip…his blood dripped as his flesh was ripped as the tips of the 9 tailed cat gripped the back of his body, yes it was bloody, the red sea that flowed not for money but for you and me…

I’m a creation of a God fearing nation. I’m a giant in my stride I have pride for I’m a soldier of Christ. I’m like a diamond in the rough being pushed and pulled and stripped with tools that try to break me, But they forget that God made me. Yes God made me.

Dylan, Esethu, and Loyd. This picture was taken on the prompting of Esethu in the middle. He was my photographer for some of these pictures and I cannot tell you what it meant to me to see this in my pictures when I got home. To see a black kid initiate with a white kid is rare indeed and this picture shows their comfort level together. This is a proud moment for me in our Christian Centre involvement.
