We served wors (sausage hotdogs), pup with sauce (stiff maize – where rice meets potato with a tomato curry type sauce), and baked beans. Dessert was s’mores (to introduce them to something American), which they gobbled up in a heartbeat.
I don’t have a whole lot to say about this event because I was mostly scrambling to feed all these people. So instead I’ll show you the night through pictures and introduce you to some of our newest members.

The amazing flowers from our wild field next door!

This is Sanele, a first year student who is just the sweetest kid.

Nonku, 2nd from the right, came back for the weekend to come visit! She is at Stellenbosch University in Cape Town this year furthering her studies. Our Bible study sure is going to miss her.

Cedric talking with Esethu (another first year sweetie)

Bradley (1st Yr.), Justin (B-Tech, aka 4th Yr), and Richard (1st Year). Very fun bunch.

Mulanga and Sbo (our upper classmen)

The inseparable Isaac and Nkululeko. Isaac will be leaving us for his practicals in a few months. I have no idea what they’ll do without each other. haha

See the girl in green on the left. That’s Asanda, she has an AMAZING voice and is going to lead worship with Justin for us at our Wednesday night meetings. We’re praying the two of them will bring about an atmosphere that will be more welcoming to a larger dynamic on campus. Please pray for God’s hand to be upon them and for the Holy Spirit to use their abilities to attract all kinds of students.

Nontethelelo is on the right here. She’s in my Bible study and is a first year. I see so much potential in this girl. She has a serving heart and is confident in herself. I think we’ll see great things from her this year.

Mpumi and Pinky. Pinky is on the student council for NMMU this year as their Secretary. Please pray for her. This is a very big responsibility and an awesome opportunity to influence others with her love for Christ.

Isn’t she cut?! Another of the MANY first years. Her name is Sandisiwe (which we learned today means "we have been added". Meaning when there is a newborn the number increases within the family and that means that you (as the newborn) are added. She is also in my bible study.

Sibusisiwe (meaning “We’re Blessed”) or as we call her Siwe. Doesn’t this look like a wedding photo.

Struan and Bradley.

The braai masters.

Natasha, I think this picture of her is beautiful.

Natasha and Sikhumbuzo.

The crew waiting for dinner.

Hi Pauline

See the love in this boys eyes towards me…haha it’s ok cause I love him too. He’s our baby and this year he’s a third year upperclassman. We met him when he was 17 our first semester here. I am totally freaked that he is a third year this year.

Muedanyi and our newest Zimbabwean Audry (who is doing her B-Tech).

My girl.

This is Sandy. I’ve mentioned her before. Last semester she had a little baby girl and then we didn’t see her again till now. Please pray that she’ll get reconnected. There are other girls in our group who can relate to her and I pray that they will be an encouragement to one another as well as spurring one another on towards Christ.

This is Simphiwe, he is our new jokester.

Me, Justin and Bradley. My note to Justin about this photo:
Justin,
I just want you to know. This picture is the only picture I have of me with other students thus far into our 2011 year and I can't use it because you're a punk.
The end.
~ Meg
Note back from Justin:
I love you megan.
Hey Stephen!
That pretty much sums up our friendship. I hate to be teased and he loves to tease me. But really, we love him and appreciate that kid.
All in all I think it was a successful night. I got to know a few students better and they all got to have a fun night off campus (which is kind of a big deal), they were introduced to our home, got to make some new friends, and had some yummy grub. Thanks for your prayers for this evening.
