Prayer Requests

I just wanted to fill everyone in on the beginning of the semester and the events you can be praying over.

We had first year registration Tuesday and Wednesday of this week and it went really well. We had 180 students who filled out questionnaires and the majority of those students said that they are interested in knowing more about the Christian Centre or would like to be in a small group bible study. The tough part is 3/4 of them live off campus. For most students, this means they will not be involved with the Christian Centre due to transportation issues. Please pray with us for the Lord’s directing in how we can minister to these students. Right now we are considering having an afternoon bible study in our home or at Hope Church, where we attend on Sunday mornings, which are both central to town.

Pray for this coming Sunday, February 6th. We will be having a Freshman Orientation Service to introduce first year students to our ministry. Right now we are struggling with getting a band together. Please pray for the logistics of this and that student’s hearts would be drawn to come out.

Pray for Monday, February 7th. This will be our introduction night to bible studies. We will be studying Ecclesiastes.

Pray for Wednesday, February 9th. We will be introducing committee positions to the students. Please pray that those who have a passion for others and who would be gifted in serving the Christian Centre would have their hearts be drawn to volunteer for committee positions.

Pray for Saturday, February 12th. We will be hosting a braai at our house for all the Christian Centre members. Please pray for this to be a time of fellowship and bonding with the first years. This is also a very important event because it introduces the first years to me and Stephen and hopefully is a time to have them be comfortable with us being a part of their adult leadership.

Pray for Sunday, February 13th. This will be our official Opening Service for the Christian Centre.

Pray for Wednesday, February 16th. The students will vote upon who will be our committee members for the year. This is VITAL. The committee members determine the heart, drive, and creativity to reaching students for Christ on their campus. Please pray that God’s hand would lead and guide the evening and the outcome of who our student leaders are to be this year.

Pray for Friday, February 18th. We’ll be doing leadership training with the new committee members. We’ll be walking them through their own personal values in order to create a vision statement for the committee. Seeing how our vision stems from our value system it is imperative that each of the committee members spend time in introspection in order to create a plan and vision for the year. In addition to a vision statement, we will also be going through material on what it means to be a leader.

Pray for the week of February 21 – 25th. A group from Dallas, Texas will be coming to join us. They are from one of Cedric and Pauline’s supporting churches. They will be sharing the Gospel with students during the lunch hour on campus for the whole week. Please pray that souls would be reached, relationships developed and Christ would be glorified.

Pray for February 26th. We’ll have our students involved in an Evangelism training course at Hope Church and then they’ll go out into the community to share the Gospel. Please pray for this to be an encouraging time, a real growth experience for our students and that this experience would excite them to share with their fellow students on campus.
